Custom Acoustic Treatment for Client-Centric Office
Project Overview
HTI, a South African software company specialising in solutions for the hospitality sector, approached DECIBEL Africa for an acoustic treatment of their new office space. Known for serving premier resorts and hotel chains, HTI wanted an office environment that reflected the same standard of comfort and professionalism. DECIBEL Africa provided a tailored solution using a combination of acoustic materials to ensure sound control across various office areas.
Challenge
HTI’s new office needed a comprehensive acoustic treatment to ensure a quiet and productive environment, aligning with the quality expected by their clientele. The design called for versatile solutions that would integrate seamlessly with the interior design, covering both walls and ceilings.
Scope of Work
- Application of sound-absorbing panels on walls and ceilings.
- Customisation of acoustic solutions to fit HTI's unique office design.
- Post-project client feedback and additional product orders for untreated areas.
Solution
DECIBEL Africa applied a range of materials to effectively control noise levels across the office:
- Premium Wooden Acoustic Panels: Custom-made WAVO and CIRCULO perforated panels, each featuring a textile backing and a wooden perforated front, provided exceptional sound absorption on wall surfaces.
- BEELIVE PET-Felt Panels: These hexagonal panels were applied in strategic areas for effective noise control and added visual appeal.
- ECHO MOON Ceiling Baffles: These ceiling-mounted baffles further reduce ambient noise, contributing to a balanced and acoustically comfortable workspace.
Each wooden perforated panel was designed and manufactured in South Africa, providing a locally crafted solution tailored to HTI's needs.
Result
The completed acoustic treatment was highly effective, meeting HTI’s expectations for a quiet and functional office environment. Pleased with the results, HTI ordered additional acoustic products to treat the remaining areas, ensuring consistent sound quality throughout their workspace.
Importance of Acoustic Treatment in Client-Facing and Collaborative Spaces
For companies in client-driven sectors like HTI, where communication is critical, acoustic comfort directly impacts the client experience and employee productivity. The treated areas within HTI’s office included client meeting rooms, open office spaces, and private workstations, each requiring tailored solutions. In meeting areas, clear acoustics facilitate seamless client interactions, while in open-plan workspaces, sound-absorbing panels mitigate distractions, allowing staff to focus without excessive background noise.
Research consistently shows that well-treated acoustic spaces improve overall work quality by 25%, while reducing employee stress and fatigue by nearly 40%, making acoustic treatments a crucial investment for companies prioritising operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Acoustic Treatment as a Key Component of Modern Office Design
Acoustic treatments have evolved from basic soundproofing solutions to essential design elements that shape workplace culture and productivity. Sound-absorbing elements such as wall panels, ceiling baffles, and modular hexagon shapes address noise from multiple directions, optimising spatial acoustics for dynamic office environments.
These specialised treatments are particularly significant for brands like HTI, whose clients expect a seamless and comfortable experience. Acoustic elements designed for adaptability, durability, and aesthetic appeal ensure a professional yet welcoming office space that supports employees’ well-being, reduces auditory fatigue, and ultimately contributes to a positive brand impression.
