Acoustic Treatment of Audiological Centre
Project Overview
An audiological centre specialising in hearing testing and diagnostics required high-performance acoustic treatment for a key testing cabinet. Given the precision needed in such an environment, the centre sought a solution that would significantly reduce noise interference, control reverberation, and support accurate auditory testing conditions. DECIBEL was tasked with implementing an acoustic solution tailored to the facility’s unique needs, using advanced materials designed specifically for sensitive medical environments.
Challenge
The main challenge was to achieve a precise level of acoustic control in a small, enclosed space with high sensitivity to sound fluctuations. Any background noise or echo could lead to distorted results, compromising the accuracy of hearing assessments. It was essential to ensure sound isolation from surrounding rooms while creating an acoustically optimised interior environment for clear and precise testing.

Solution
DECIBEL’s solution involved the installation of CIRCULO perforated wooden panels across the cabinet walls. The panels were carefully selected to absorb effectively mid-range frequencies, with high-density polyurethane foam back and premium-quality MDF front for superior sound absorption. These panels were custom-fitted to cover each critical area within the cabinet, addressing both soundproofing and reverberation control needs. The CIRCULO panels with optimised perforations, provided a balanced sound environment that supports the facility’s rigorous diagnostic requirements.
Result
The acoustic treatment successfully reduced ambient noise and echo levels, creating an ideal testing environment within the cabinet. Post-installation testing confirmed sound levels well within diagnostic standards, enhancing testing accuracy and patient experience. The centre was highly satisfied with the results, noting the aesthetic appeal and functionality of DECIBEL’s CIRCULO perforated wood panels. The custom-fit panels achieved both effective sound absorption, meeting the project’s goals comprehensively.
Importance of Acoustic Treatment in Audiological Facilities
Audiology facilities require highly controlled acoustic environments to ensure precise hearing assessments and accurate diagnostic outcomes. Testing cabinets, in particular, demand careful soundproofing to eliminate external noise interference and reverberation that can affect test results. Acoustic treatments, such as DECIBEL’s CIRCULO panels, are designed to optimise these spaces by minimising background noise and improving sound clarity, crucial for reliable hearing diagnoses and patient care.
