Project Overview

An office environment required urgent acoustic improvement to enhance sound control and create a more productive workspace. DECIBEL was contacted for a same-day inspection, and our team quickly identified three key areas needing acoustic enhancement. The project included designing, visualising, producing, and installing customised acoustic solutions for each specific area.

Challenge

The main challenge was to quickly engineer an acoustic solution that addressed the high levels of noise in a multi-functional office space. The client sought an immediate improvement in acoustic comfort for their staff, particularly in high-traffic areas like the reception and open-plan offices.

Scope of Work

• Acoustic slated panels for the reception area.
• Baffles for the walls and ceiling in the open-space office.
• Wall textile panels for the administration offices.
• Visualisation of the proposed designs and timely production and installation.

Solution

DECIBEL provided tailored acoustic treatments for each of the designated areas:

• Reception Area: Acoustic slated panels with veneered MDF and black PET-felt were installed to control noise and create an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere.
• Open-Space Office: 250 wall baffles and 80 ceiling baffles were installed to reduce reverberation and ensure effective sound absorption in this busy, open environment.
• Administration and Private Offices: 108 wall textile panels were fitted to absorb sound and create quieter, more private working areas.

Our approach involved close communication with the client, who was open to ideas and provided flexibility throughout the project. We also created visualisations to ensure the solutions aligned with the office’s design aesthetic. The entire project, from design to installation, was completed on time and within budget.

Result

The acoustic performance of the office was significantly improved, resulting in a quieter, more comfortable environment for employees and visitors. The strategic placement of baffles and panels effectively controlled sound in all key areas, meeting the client’s goals.
